Meta opens a digital clothing store in the Metaverse.
Meta Designer has announced the launch of a digital clothing store that will allow users to purchase clothing for their avatars in their Metaverse. The company hopes that clothing and other accessories will become an important part of users ’self-expression, encouraging them to spend on digital clothing that they can wear through all Meta applications, including Facebook and Instagram.
With the advent of the Metaverse, the shift and digitization of our world, companies have begun to tap into industries like apparel production to take advantage of the benefits that demand for access to Metaverse users can bring. One such company is Meta, which recently announced the launch of a digital clothing store called “Meta Avatar Store,” which allows users to purchase clothing from various brands to dress up their Metaverse avatars. Launching this week in several markets, the store will feature digital designs from Balenciaga, Prada and Tom Brown, and will be available for Meta avatars on Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger.
The price of each of the available dresses has not yet been announced. Meta’s bet is simple: the company believes the Metaverse will grow so much in the coming years that the demand for these digital goods will grow with it. That’s why the company launched a meta-software business earlier this year. The creator and CEO of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, discussed how these goods and virtual reality are related. The Metaverse’s main software, Horizon Worlds, which is exclusively accessible to users of Meta Quest VR headsets, is mentioned by Zuckerberg. These digital components are accessible to platform users in Horizon World as well. Experts caution that Meta’s strategy for encouraging people to sign up for the Metaverse is challenging. Zuckerberg is well aware of the financial burden of this early push for Metaverse. He stated in May that over the following three to five years, the shift will cost the business a “substantial sum.”
