Big payments players might be diving their toes in the cryptocurrency for the first time, but it has been a part of Visa’s Fast Track program since last year. Vias has invited ZenGo, the digital asset wallet provider in its Fast Track project, declared on Tuesday. The business hopes to utilize the project which has popularly championed Bitcoin’s Lightning framework and rewards app fold to support the dispatch of a cryptocurrency-based payment card for the U.S. at the beginning of 2021.
Crypto applications are the kind of the month, with PayPal joining Square, Robinhood, Revolut, and Ziglu, who are generally contending in this space. ZenGo CEO Ouriel Ohayon talked up the non-custodial part of the Visa-sponsored card, which he says separates it from any semblance of PayPal.
Those different contributions are just a half-vanilla taste of what crypto is because they just let you own an IOU over cryptographic money, Ohayon stated in a meeting. Visa observes the incentive in connecting crypto administrations to plastic cards, having recently tied up an arrangement including distributed advanced resource commercial center Paxful.
