The Saudis top OpenSea as bots advertises free mint and con artists target Discord.
A new free NFT mint project called The Saudis surpassed OpenSea with 4,774 ETH in the first 24 hours. However, about 10% of the NFTs were generated by someone who generated 194 ETH creating a cloud in the project. Jason Klein discovered that the wallet used to sell NFTs on OpenSea used a “single wallet” to house a free mint, making about a $ 16,000 gas bill at $ 234,000 in less than a day. CryptoSlate analyzed the wallet and found that 0x8026 had done similar actions several times in the past. Previous projects like Crypto Dads, Tubby Cats, Jungle Freaks, Galaxy Eggs, Shroomz, Racoon Mafia, Fang Gang, Al Cabones and ChiptoPunks have all fallen victim to scalpers. Mint is packaged in their respective wallets and then transferred to 0x8026 for trading on OpenSea. The wallet currently contains 194 ETH, but its maximum balance was 464 ETH in February.
In February, the wallet received hundreds of NFT TubbyCats from a smart contract owned by 0x8026. This contract received 1,240 TubbyKat and sold them for $ 1.4 million from Ethereum. Funds are sent to several wallets through the Dispers program. Saudi Arabian users of Discord report that the wallets are being wasted by scammers who have managed to tag all users on the public channel. As a general rule, Discord moderators limit the use of @Everyone and @here only to official verified accounts. However, some users claim that the scammer “tagged everyone” and “posted the link in the public chat and its 2-level”. Unfortunately, some users fell victim to scammers and lacked money in their wallets.
Again, Discord’s poor security seems to be the reason random NFT collectors lose the contents of their wallets. During a free mint frenzy like this, users have to act fast to get their NFTs before the mints run out. As a result, some people do not carefully check URLs and smart contract permissions before signing a request. The Saudi Arabian project maintains a high minimum price of 1 ETH and the best bid of 0.97 ETH with no problems.
