SEC Enforcement Director to Step Down by End of Year

Stephanie Avakian, the U.S. Protections and Exchange Commission (SEC) authorization chief who drove examinations since 2017, including during the total of SEC’s underlying coin offering (ICO) crackdown, plans to leave the office this year.

 

SEC said Thursday that Avakian made the Cyber Unit liable for overseeing crypto-related protections infringement, particularly the ICO ventures that endeavor to raise capital without recording.

 

A CoinDesk survey of SEC requirement filings shows the controller started in any event 46 activities against ICOs during Avakian’s residency as chief.

 

Avakian assumed control over the Enforcement Division in June 2017. She had recently filled in as delegate requirement chief from June 2014.
