The cryptocurrency’s double-digit price jump was mostly driven by members of Buy & Hold XRP, a telegram-based group that came into existence on Saturday. However, the group’s membership surpassed telegram’s 200 ceilings within the first 24 hours itself, leading to migration to the new official group with a similar title but a different link.
Classic pump and dump strategies are not new to cryptocurrency, especially for XRP, which has a solid multitude of adherents. Nonetheless, their assurance may have been helped by a gathering of beginner informal investors dependent on a Reddit discussion called WallStreetBets, who as of late dispatched an organized purchasing attack on the computer game retailer Gamestop, setting off a short press and incurring hefty losses for mutual funds.
